Content management

In today’s webspace, managing your content is the most important aspect of running your website on a day-to-day basis. Being able to log in and add, edit and delete words, pictures and videos is essential to keep your content fresh.

Indeed, search engines will give more credibility to sites which have frequently changing content.

With very rare exceptions, all the sites we build at Canary Dwarf are based on content management systems. Each project is different and we use whicver solution provides best value for the client. A lot of the smaller projects are based on WordPress, but others use more substantial CMS products or, where there is no available product to suit, we will build one to order.

Case study

A bus company required a CMS to manage their timetables. There was no off-the-shelf CMS product that suited their needs, so we built them one from scratch. This allowed them to add new timetables, suspend them while inactive without deleting them, and edit them when new stops were added to existing routes.

Managing content for you

Situations arise where our clients don’t have the time or sometimes the skills or labour to provide the updates necessary. In this case, we ‘manage content’ for clients who decide their time is better dedicated to the day-to-day running of their business. You can benefit from our experience and knowledge in writing content that works well for your website. Please see content maintenance

WordPress

WordPress is an award-winning platform that is widely used as a CMS (content management system) It is our favourite and we use it for many of our sites, large and small.

The way WordPress works is by separating content from the design completely, so it is possible to change one without the other. This has long-term benefits as it adheres to W3C guidelines on web standards, and makes redesignining sites less expensive.
