*Updates include WordPress core, plugins, framework and themes where these are accessible to us. Tasks are undertaken on a ‘fair deal’ basis and, if deemed to be unreasonably long, will be notified to you with a quotation. Most tasks can be completed within 30 minutes. Support tasks are described as those which fix or change an existing issue.
Frequently asked questions
WordPress, plugins, framework and theme vendors all issue updates for their software to add features and fix bugs. Your website is more vulnerable to malware and hackers if it is out of date. Updates also add improved functionality and new features.
You can perform these updates yourself by logging into your WordPress website and clicking ‘Updates’. Updates are performed online and although these are easy, there is potential disruption if it goes wrong. However, with a maintenance package, we will fix any incompatibilities that unfold free of charge, and it also means we can delay some updates if we learn of known issues with plugins.
Between major updates, WordPress is updated automatically to maximise its defence against malicious attack. However, plugins, themes and frameworks aren’t and updates to these are typically to plug vulnerabilities and so, you are not advised to leave them out of date any longer than necessary.
The care packages are for updates, tech support, backups and security scans. It doesn’t include work associated with marketing and performance, such as search engine optimisation or analytics. These can be ordered separately.
